- Pop. 353. In Severn T., Simcoe C., on the W shore of Lake Couchiching and Hwy II, 11 km. N of Orillia.
- The place is named after Frederic William Cumberland, an engineer who helped build the Ontario, Simcoe and Huron Railway in 1852 from Toronto to Barrie (then called Allandale).
- As the Toronto, Simcoe and Muskoka Junction Railway it was extended to Orillia in 1872 and to Cumberland Beach the following year.
