- Pop. 261. In North Plantagenet T., Prescott and Russell Cs., on C. Rd. 2,32 km. SW of Hawkesbury.
- One of the earliest settlers was Leon LaBelle, who arrived in 1857 and opened a general store. He later built a carriage shop and operated a hotel.
- The post office was established as Curran in 1858, possibly honouring Irish lawyer and Catholic emancipation proponent John Philpot Curran (1750-1817.)
- An 1862 map shows Curran as the post office name and Inkerman as the name of the hamlet. Inkerman remained the hamlet's name until 1875.
