- Pop. 232. In Sophiasburgh T., Prince Edward C., at the intersection of C. Rds. 5, 14 & 15, 12 km. NW of Picton.
- Named for Guilliame Demorest who came to the area in 1793, built the first mill, was the first postmaster, a justice of the peace and a militia officer.
- By 1823 the village had grown so 'wicked' because of its taverns and brawling lumbermen, that it was nicknamed 'Sodom' and a nearby settlement was referred to as 'Gomorrah.'
- Anson Green, a Methodist minister who worked the Hallowell Circuit in the mid- 1820s, recorded a visit to the village in his memoirs.
- He said the place was nicknamed Sodom, but since there were more than 10 righteous people in the village, 'we have given the village a new name,' Demorestville, after Guilliame Demorest.
