I think I knew Fred and his daughter Sally many years ago. Wrote her a note once on a piece of birchbark. 330-352-1911

Sally ! This is fantastic.... of COURSE, you would know the real history of the name. And your Mum was one of my Cub leaders in the ORIGINAL Donwood Community Centre. And then there were the unfortunate 'Donwood Talent Time' evenings.... me sweating profusely at the thought of having to go onstage with my hoaky accordion, and you, leading the charge with your sisters, armed with a chenille bedspread, to cover the piano. But Fred played on !!! Johnny...

The name 'Donwood' predated the church by many years. It was named after two early residents, Stan Wood (a local farmer whose land became the community) and Don Dixon who ran the local gas station, and who contributed much to the early development of the community, including the first rink. I was there when it all happened, and my dad (Fred Adams), along with many community volunteers, was instrumental in the creation of the Donwood Community Centre. Regards, Sally Adams Webber
