- Pop. 1,427. In Peel T., Wellington C., on the Conestogo R. and C. Rds. 8 & 11,53 km. NW of Guelph.
- A Methodist preacher named Benjamin Jones settled in 1847. The first post office opened in 1849, and the first postmaster was Ezra Adams.
- The post office opened as Maryboro, but was also shown as Peel in the same year and then Peel or Maryborough until 1851 when the name was changed to Drayton.
- Drayton Manor was the Staffordshire home of Britain' s prime minister, Sir Robert Peel (1788-1850.)
