- Pop. 7,731. In Van Horne T., KenoraDist., onL. WabigoonandHwys 17,502,601, & 665, 126 km. E of Kenora.
- The town was founded by Hon. John Dryden, Ontario minister of agriculture in the provincial government, 1890-1905
- In 1897 he started an experimental farm and called the place New Prospect. In 1897 when the post office was opened, settlers changed the name to Dryden to honour its founder.
