- Pop. 246. In Guilford T., Haliburton C., on the south shore of Eagle L. at the junction of C. Rds. 6 and 14, 86 km. W of Bancroft, 71 km. E of Bracebridge.
- The township was surveyed in 1862 and settlers brought from England by the Canadian Land and Emigration Company began arriving in 1869.
- The name appeared on a Dominion Crown Lands map dated 1859 and a Dominion Geological Survey map of Canada in 1866. The place was named because eagles nested along the lakeshore.
