Pop. 911. In Armstrong T., TimiskamingDist.,on Hwy 11 and C. Rds. 571 & 640, 29 km. NW of New Liskeard.
The first pioneers moved into Ontario's 'little clay belt' around 1900. This extremely fertile region supports beef and dairy herds.
The community was named after George Earl Brasher, the first child born here, in 1904, son of postmaster Albert Edward Brasher.
Sir George Yonge, the secretary of war. Simcoe named the township after his wife, whose maiden name was Gwillim.
