  • Pop. 9,923. In Erin T., Wellington C., on a branch of the Credit R. and C. Rd. 24, 35 km. NE of Guelph.
  • The townsite was surveyed in 1819 immediately after Albion and Caledon had been named for England and Scotland.
  • Erin is the poetic name for Ireland. Before the post office was established in 1832, the settlement was first known as McMillan's Mills, often misspelled as McMullen's Mills.
