Ontario Tourism Region : The Great Waterway
Description From Owner:
- Pop. 31. In Bastard T., Leeds C., on C. Rd. 45 km NW of Brockville. A post office opened in 1854.
- Storekeeper William Young was the postmaster. The T. was named in 1798 for John Pollexfen Bastard from Devon, England, who had voted against the Canada Bill in 1791.
- The place was likely named for the Scottish town formerly in Angus, now in Tayside. (That town is best known for the humourous soccer game score: Fife four; Forfar five).
