  • Pop. 240. In Kenora Dist. on the Severn R., 16 km. W of Hudson Bay and 765 km. N of Geraldton or 770 km. NW of Moosonee.
  • A Hudson's Bay Company fort was established on the site in 1685 and called Churchill Fort. It was burned by the French, rebuilt in 1759 and renamed Fort Severn after the river on which it is located. It is still in operation.
