- Pop. 127. In West Carleton T., Reg. Mun. of Ottawa-Carleton on the Mississippi R. and C. Rd. 22, 7 km. E of Arnprior.
- Andrew Forbes was the first settler in 1823. The place was first known as Hubbell's Falls after James Hubbell who in that year leased water privileges from the Clergy Reserve.
- Hubbell did not develop the property and in 1832 sold the mill rights to James Steen who built a mill, after which the place was called Steen's Falls.
- Steen sold to J. G. Whyte who named the place Galetta after his own middle name. The post office continued the name when it opened in 1878.
