Description From Owner:
- Pop. 450. In South Dumfries T., Brant C., on the Grand R. and C. Rds. 14 & 28, 12 km. SW of Cambridge.
- The site was settled in 1823 by pioneers from Scotland and New York State. In 1831 mill owner John Dawson built a bridge across the Grand R., and the settlement became known as Dawson's Bridge.
- In the 1840s the community was called Middleton because it was in the centre ofaring of villages formed by Ayr, Paris, and St. George.
- In 1851 the post office opened as Glen Morris after then postmaster-general James Morris, during whose administration the postage rate for a letter was reduced from 16 cents to five cents.
