Description From Owner:

Pop. 450. In South Dumfries T., Brant C., on the Grand R. and C. Rds. 14 & 28, 12 km. SW of Cambridge.
The site was settled in 1823 by pioneers from Scotland and New York State. In 1831 mill owner John Dawson built a bridge across the Grand R., and the settlement became known as Dawson's Bridge.
In the 1840s the community was called Middleton because it was in the centre ofaring of villages formed by Ayr, Paris, and St. George.
In 1851 the post office opened as Glen Morris after then postmaster-general James Morris, during whose administration the postage rate for a letter was reduced from 16 cents to five cents.
