- Pop. 102,059. Originally a township in the Reg. Mun. of Ottawa Carleton, bounded on the east by Prescott and Russell Cs., on the south by Russell T., on the west by the Rideau R., and on the north by the Ottawa R. Became a city in 1981.
- Bradish Billings from New England was the first settler, arriving in 1809. The township was named after Prince William Frederick, second Duke of Gloucester, a nephew of George III and husband of the king's daughter, Princess Mary.
