Description From Owner:
- Pop. 857. In Gordon T., Manitoulin Dist., on the North Ch. ofL. Huron and N shore of Manitoulin I. on C. Rd. 542, 2 km. N of Hwy 540, 60 km. W of Little Current.
- The First Nations Peoples called the place Pushk-dinang, meaning 'barren hill' and referring to a sheer wall of grey limestone on the east side of the bay.
- When a post office opened in 1874, it was named Gore Bay after a steamship, the Gore, which had become frozen in the ice of the North Ch. in the 1850s.
