Pop. 224. In Wallace T., Perth C., on Hwy 23 at C. Rd. 88, 5 km. NE of Listowel.
The name honours the first tavern owner and store keeper, Thomas H. Gowan. The post office opened in 1871 and William Blackstone was the first postmaster.
