Pop. 65. In North and South Grimsby T., Lincoln C., Reg. Mun. of Niagara on C. Rd. 73,20 km SE of Hamilton.
For a time the place was called Muir Settlement after the first family of settlers, and later Grassies and Grassey' s Corners after John Grassie. By 1918 the name was established as Grassie.

I too cannot believe how Grassie has grown so much. I lived there from 1973 to 2006 and my parents and aunt and uncle were the founders of Grassie Auto Body Ltd.(now closed as of 2007). It is nice to see that it has maintained its quiet appeal. The one memory I have is of the Grassie General Store and the post office and tack shop. Other than that...no real excitement, but a fantastic small community to raise kids.

Wow, Grassie's population seems to have exploded over the past few years. Although it has been almost 20yrs since I loved there, It is a great place to grow up. If anyone has any pictures of the Old Grassie one room school house prior to the fire, please share. So far I have been able to trace my family back there since 1940, maybe a bit earlier. So if anyone has any information about those early Grassie years, please let me know. Thanks, Kimberly Hunter
