A public meeting in 1870 agreed upon the name for this community, but the reason for the name has not been recorded.

The Old Favorites Bookshop, located in Green river, is a wonderful place to find a treasure or two. The Seaton Trail is a beautiful place to take a hike.

Green River, a wonderful historic little hamlet on Highway #7 just 30 minutes from Toronto. Great place for a picnic at the field next to the Old Favorites Book Shop (which has more than just books) on Dufferins Creek. The Seaton hiking trail is only a 5 minute walk. A great place to spend the day browsing books and local history.

I lived in Green River for a time in 1970 and shopped at the Green River Store. My inlaws, Archie And Thelma White lived just up Hwy 7.

Old Favorites Book Shop is located in this little historic hamlet. Which has been a family operated business since 1954, moving in to the historic Green River store (built sometime in the mid 1800's) in the mid 1980's. if you don't find the book your looking for you will find something, or Joy can locate it for you. A great place to browse. Green River is also the northern end of the Seaton hiking trail and a little known secret that trails do exist north of the Book Shop. A great place to take a break or end your day of hiking the trails.
