516. In Prince T., Algoma Dist., at the bottom of Batchawana Bay off L. Superior and western terminus of Hwy 550, 21 km. W of Sault Ste. Marie.
The place was first known as Kitchi Neiashi, a First Nations Peoples name, but was renamed Gros Cap in 1952 by the Canadian Board on Geographic Names. Gros Cap is French for 'big point.'
