Pop. 745. In Darlington T., Durham C., on Bowmanville Cr. and C. Rd. 4, 9 km N of Bowmanville.
The community was settled in 1840 by Henry Elliott, who built a mill and after whom the place was called Elliott's Mills. In 1848 the name was changed to Millville.
That name was later changed to Hampton, part of the name Kilkhampton, the home of the Elliotts in North Cornwall, England.
