- Pop. 1,062. In Asphodel T., Peterborough C., and Percy T., Northumberland C., on both banks of the Trent R and C. Rds. 2,25 & 45, 38 km E of Peterborough.
- United Empire Loyalists settled on the south side of the river mouth in 1795, and First Nations Peoples lived on the north side until 1818. James Crooks built a mill on the river in 1827 and laid out a settlement he called Crooks' Rapids.
- In 1852, the first postmaster, H. Fowlds, renamed the community to honour Francis Rawdon-Hastings, the Marquis of Hastings.
