Pop. 117. In Grey c. on the Beaver R. and C. Rd. 13, 32 km W of Collingwood.
William Fleming settled here in the 1840s and for a time the place was called Williamstown after him.
That name was already in use elsewhere in Ontario, so when the post office opened in 1859, this community was called Heathcote, possibly after a place of that name in Derbyshire, England.
