  • Hillsdale Mill Built in 1833 by Thomas Anderson and Jacob Gill in the Town of Hillsdale for the Ojibway First Nation. The mill was purchased by the Rumble Family in 1907 who operated it for many years. All operations ceased in 1995.

Description From Owner:
  • Pop. 523. In Medonte T., Simcoe C., on Hwy 93,28 km SE of Penetanguishene. Patrick Murphy, a retired soldier, settled in 1829.
  • The community developed at the point where the Gloucester Rd. left the Penetanguishene Rd., halfway between Kempenfeldt Bay and Penetanguishene.
  • When the post office was established in 1867, the place was named after Alexander Hill, local tavern-keeper.
