- Pop. 558. In Baxter T., Dist. Mun. of Muskoka, on the E coast of Georgian Bay offL. Huron, facing the Inside Passage through the 30,000 Islands and at the N terminus of C. Rd. 5, 54 km NW of Orillia.
- First visited by a party of surveyors in 1780, the community did not develop until Didace Grise built the Royal Hotel.
- The post office was established in 1910 as Royal Honey Harbour, and in 1912 the Royal was dropped. The name was given because of the numerous honey bees encountered by early settlers.
