Pop. 162. In Dufferin C. on C. Rd. 21, 18 km N of Shelburne. The place was settled in the 1840s by men from Yorkshire, England, who bought land from a Mr. Wood of Toronto.
The place was first called Rosewood after Wood's last name and his wife's first name, but that was turned down by the post office because it was too similar to other names in use.
In 1865 the residents proposed the name Honeywood which was accepted by postal authorities.

Good morning.. does any one have information on a Skating carnival that was put on by a young girl called Dagmar Karner around 1961-62. If you have any pictures or article about this skating carnival I would appreciate it. This was myself at age 13-14 and I never had any pictures from this event. I lived in Collingwood at that time and was asked by my skating teacher Joanne Hutchison. Any information would be appreciated...thank you in advance. earn2burn@aol.com
