- Pop. 71. In Lanark C. on the Mississippi R. and Hwy 7,17 km. N of Perth. Capt. Noah Freer, a veteran of the War of 1812 received a land grant here and for a time the place was known as Freer's Mills.
- He sold his holdings to James Ennis who built the first mill in 1824 and the place then became known as Ennisville.
- When the post office opened in 1851 a clerical error resulted in the community being called Innisville. The error was never corrected.
