- Pop. 326. In Timiskaming Dist. on the N shore of Larder L. and Hwy 66,2 km W of the Quebec border and 43 km E of Kirkland Lake.
- The place was settled in 1937 by employees of the Kerr-Addison Gold Mine, who wanted to build their own homes.
- The community was fIrst known as Chesterville after the Chesterville mine, but was renamed Kearns in 1939 after J. T. Kearns, founder of the Chesterville-Larder Lake Gold Mining Company.
