- Pop. 630. On the Brennan R. in Haggarty T., Renfrew C., on C. Rds. 58,70 & 512, 40 km SW of Pembroke.
- James BonfIeld, who bought land here in 1850, named the place after his hometown in County Clare, Ireland.
- A local nickname for the place was Fort McDonnell because a large rock formation on the east side of the Brennan R. created the appearance of a fortifIed town, and because William McDonnell owned the sawmill here.
