- Pop. 20,924. Reg. Mun. in Sandwich West T., Essex C., on C. Rd. 3, 14 km S of Windsor.
- The post office was established in 1889 as Petite Cote and changed its name to La Salle in 1924 to honour French explorer Robert Rene Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle who went through the area in 1679.
- During prohibition LaSalle enjoyed a prosperous liquor-exporting business. When prohibition was repealed the community's prosperity declined and its population decreased.
