Description From Owner:
  • Pop. 500. In Innisfil T., Simcoe C., 5 km. E of C. Rd. 4, 21 km. SE of Barrie. The first settler was Henry Grose, who came to the area in 1832 from Cornwall, England.
  • The community's name honours Sir John Henry Lefroy, who was in charge of the magnetic observatory in Toronto 1844-1853.
  • In the 1860s, Albert Kirkpatrick, who ran the general store, published a monthly leaflet for farmers in which he boasted of his store: 'We sell everything Eatons sell and some which they don't.'
