Ontario Tourism Region : Bruce Peninsula, Southern Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe
Description From Owner:
- Pop. 137. In Grey c. on Owen Sound off Georgian Bay of Lake Huron and C. Rd. 15, 10 km. NE of Owen Sound.
- John Telfer settled this place and built a grist mill and laid out building lots.
- The community was on a natural harbour and anticipating it would one day become a major shipping centre, Telfer named the place after the Scottish port of Leith, a suburb of Edinburgh. Low water, however, precluded the place becoming a shipping centre.
