- Pop. 32,750. Part of the City of Mississauga, on C. Rds. 5 & 7, 24 km. NW of Toronto. Settled by Samuel Moore in 1823, and named Malton by Richard Halliday in the 1830s after his birthplace in North Yorkshire, England.
- The name remained when the post office was opened in 1856. Toronto Airport opened just south of here in 1937 and for years was known as Malton Airport.
- The name was changed to Toronto International Airport and later to Lester B. Pearson International Airport, honouring Hon. Lester Bowles Pearson, prime minister of Canada 1963-1968.
