- Pop. 3,670. In Fullarton and Logan Ts., Perth C., on the North Thames R. and Hwys 8 & 23, 21 km NW of Stratford.
- The founders of the town were William Hicks and his son John, who opened a tavern on the Huron Rd. in 1837.
- The community was named Mitchell after a black settler whose first name was not recorded. One of Canada's most popular hockey players was born in Mitchell in 1902.
- Howie Morenz played 14 seasons in the National Hockey League, 12 of them for the Montreal Canadiens. He was a three-time winner of the Hart Trophy for the league's most valuable player.
