- Pop. 676. In Brantford T., Brant C., on C. Rd. 24, 5 km. S of Brantford. Settled in 1799 by Henry Ellis who named the place after his home in Flintshire, Wales.
- In 1840, well-heeled Scottish shoemaker Richard Tennant built a unique octagonal home, which had a number of owners, including The Royal Canadian Legion.
- There are half a dozen or more octagonal buildings across Ontario, but no others with eight roof gables. Mount Pleasant native Augusta Stowe Gullen (1857-1943) was the first woman to graduate in medicine from a Canadian university.
- She and her mother, Dr. Emily Stowe, were forceful suffragette leaders.
