- Pop. 116,928. City in the Reg. Mun. of Ottawa-Carleton adjoining Ottawa to the W. The city was incorporated in 1978, formed by the municipalities of Carleton C. and Cumberland T.
- The community was settled in 1809 when Ira Honeywell started clearing land on 1,000 acres (405 ha) given to him by his father, a United Empire Loyalist, who had been granted the land after it was surveyed in 1798.
- The township and city were named after Sir Evan York Nepean who served as under-secretary in the Colonial Department until 1795.
