Description From Owner:
- Pop. 398. In Mosa T., Middlesex C., on C. Rd. 1, 47 km NE of Chatham. The community had its beginnings with the arrival of the Great Western Railway in 1851 and was first called Wardville Station.
- When the post office opened in 1854, Thompson became the postmaster. The name chosen was Newbury; but the post office opened as Newburg. The error was soon corrected.
- It is believed postmaster Robert Thompson named the place after Newbury in Berksbire, England.
