Pop. 735. In Mariposa T., Victoria C., on Hwy 7, 11 km. W of Lindsay.
One of the first settlers was James Tift who arrived in 1833 and after whom the place was frrst called Tift's Corners. In 1843 the community was named by settler Joseph Pearson for the forest of white oak that covered the area.
