- Pop. 856. In the Reg. Mun. of Peel, on the Humber R. and C. Rd. 50, 43 km NW of Brampton.
- The place was first known as Buck's Town after Barney 'Buck' Dolan, an early hunter and tavern keeper.
- When the post office opened in 1869 the name Palgrave was 'imposed' on the predominantly Irish population of Bucks town, according to the Ontario Geographic Names Board.
- The community was so named to honour Englishman Sir Francis Turner Palgrave -poet, critic, and editor -- who published the Golden Treasury of English Songs and Lyrics.
