Pop. 289. In Dilke T., Rainy River Dist., on Rainy and Pinewood Rs. and Hwy 11 and C. Rd. 619, 72 km. NW of Fort Frances.
In 1877 the post office was established as Pine River after the river. In 1895 the name was changed to Pinewood. In 1930, Pine River was renamed Pinewood River.

I am looking for a history of the Town of Pinewood from about 1885 to 1930. I am interested in when the first highway was built, when did the railway come through, how many general stores, sawmills, boat docks, farm machinery sales, churches, schools. A general account of the town around 1900. I have not been able to find any information like this online. Thanks.
