Description From Owner:
- Pop. 4,880. In Tay T., Simcoe C., on Hog Bay, an arm of Georgian Bay 2 km. N of Hwy 12,45 km. NW of Orillia.
- The community owes its existence to a decision by CPR to locate its main terminal for upper Great Lakes steamships here in 1909.
- The railway previously had used Owen Sound, but made the change because of adverse grades on the Toronto-Owen Sound route. The new port facility was named after David McNicoll, vice-president and general manager of the CPR at that time.
