Pop. 46. In Cochrane Dist. on the Abitibi R. and Hwys 11& 572, 36 km NW of Kirkland Lake.
In 1909 the community was called Claybel afer the regional toponomy. In 1915 the place was renamed after a prospector believed to have been the first white man to die in the area.

As a boy, traveling from Timmins to grandma's house in Bourkes, our family often stopped at a gas station/store in Ramore to see the bear that was in a large cage that had a tree in the middle of it. The bear was gone when I visited in July of 2009 but Ramore is still a charming hamlet. I was sad to see so many houses for sale.
