Description From Owner:
- Pop. 3,454. In Howard T., Kent C., on C. Rds. 17 & 19,37 km. E of Chatham. The frrst settlers were United Empire Loyalists who arrived in 1823.
- By 1828 they had built a log schoolhouse. The Western Ontario Experimental Farm was established at Ridgetown in 1922 and developed into Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology.
- The community was named in 1853 for the high ridge on which it is located.
