Description From Owner:

Pop. 3,454. In Howard T., Kent C., on C. Rds. 17 & 19,37 km. E of Chatham. The frrst settlers were United Empire Loyalists who arrived in 1823.
By 1828 they had built a log schoolhouse. The Western Ontario Experimental Farm was established at Ridgetown in 1922 and developed into Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology.
The community was named in 1853 for the high ridge on which it is located.
