Pop. 119. In Thunder Bay Dist. on Nipigon Bay of Lake Superior and Hwy 17, 81 km. SE of Nipigon.
The place was frrst called Gravel River and then McKay's Landing, after the first lighthouse keeper. In 1889 it was renamed Ross Port after Walter Inkerman Ross, a railway contractor.

The town of Rossport, Ontario was named by my Great Great Grandfather---Walter Inkerman Ross in about 1889. He later moved west to the area around Lethbridge Alberta and became a rancher. His two sons were born in Kenora.8X92X
