- Pop. 116. In Maryborough T., Wellington C. on the Mallett R and C. Rds. 7 & 10, 11 km. SE of Palmerston.
- The community was first called Maryborough, but when the post office opened in 1856 the place was renamed after Rothesay on Scotland's Isle of Bute. The spelling error has never been corrected.
- The world's largest culvert (soil and steel bridge) is 1.2 km. W of the village on C. Rd. 10. It spans 17.6 metres (58 ft. 1 5/16 in.) across the Mallett R and is 7.3 metres (24 ft. 1.7 in.) high at its highest point.
- The claim is made by the Wellington C. Engineering and Road Dept. engineering technologist.
