Pop. 2,500. In Amabel T., Bruce C., on L. Huron and C. Rds. 8 & 13, 26 km. NW of Owen Sound. A sandy beach 11 km. long attracted the first cottagers in the early 1900s and earned the nickname 'Canada's Daytona Beach.'
Today there are more than 3,000 cottages along the beach. The name derives from a corruption of the French word sable, ('sand').
