Description From Owner:
  • Pop. 2,500. In Amabel T., Bruce C., on L. Huron and C. Rds. 8 & 13, 26 km. NW of Owen Sound. A sandy beach 11 km. long attracted the first cottagers in the early 1900s and earned the nickname 'Canada's Daytona Beach.'
  • Today there are more than 3,000 cottages along the beach. The name derives from a corruption of the French word sable, ('sand').
