- Pop. 3,375. In Melancthon T., Dufferin C., on Hwys 10& 89 and C. Rd. 12, 53 km S of Collingwood.
- In 1864 William Jelly, from the Brockville area, built the British Canadian Hotel. Travellers, however, called it Jelly's Tavern, and the place was known as Jelly's Corners.
- Before the post office opened, some residents wanted it called Tandragee after a town in County Armagh, Ireland. But members of Parliament named it Shelburne after Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, Earl of Shelburne, who was instrumental in ending the War of 1812
