Description From Owner:
- Pop. 180. On the boundary of Grey and Simcoe Cs. on the Mad R. and C. Rd. 124, 1 km. N of C. Rd. 4, 16 km. S of Collingwood.
- The place was settled in 1846 by Josiah R. Sing and over the next few years was known by a number of different names: Mad River Mills, Kelvin and Mortimer.
- In 1853 Sing submitted a number of names for consideration by the post office, including Sing Sing. In 1859 the postal inspector approved Singhampton.
