Pop. 221. In Spragge T., Algoma Dist. on the North shore of the North Ch. of L. Huron and Hwy 17, 122 km W of Sudbury.
The place was first known as Serpent River in 1885 and shown as Cooks Mills on an 1890 map, but was later named after Hon. John Godfrey Spragge, Ontario Chief Justice, 1881-84.
