Pop. 246. In Seymour T., Northumberland C. on the Trent and C. Rds. 30 & 42, 39 km NE of Peterborough.
The place was first called The Narrows because it was located at the narrowest stretch of the Trent R. for many miles in both directions.
The river, named after the River Trent in central England at this point could often be crossed on foot. In 1879 it was named Trent Bridge.
