- Pop. 61. In the Region of York-Durham on a tributary to Pefferlaw Br. and C. Rds. 32 & 82,46 km NW of Whitby.
- William Snodden laid out village lots in 1854, after which the place wa called Snodden's Corners. In 1862 the commmunity was renamed Udora afte settler Udora Bret-hour Webster, sometimes misspelled as Eudora.
- The oral tradition versions which follow are courtesy of Allan McGillivray of the Uxbridge Scott Museum: A local meeting was held to select a name for the community.
- The chairman, soliciting suggestions, looked down at Dora Brethour and said, 'What about you, Dora?' Another version is that during the same meeting Dora Brethou was in another room making tea and dropped a pot. Someone said, 'Is that you Dora?'
